Less Stressful Moves with Pods Storage
We recently moved from one part of the city to another. In all our other moves, we used a traditional packing and moving service. It always involved a whirlwind team of people at our house who packed things right from under your nose. It always felt like I had no control of what was happening, in spite of that fact that it was my stuff and my house. Most of the time, we would have the majority of things packed ahead of time and let the movers do the big stuff. We would slowly dismantle the house and become engulfed with a sea of boxes. As we had no room to move during our weeks of packing, we longed for a one room to just stack all the boxes where they would be out of the way. If only we would have known about pods storage. Now that we are working professionals, we hire movers. That is just what we do.
We decided to try something new this time. We went with pods storage, after researching it a bit. They delivered the storage unit to our curb. It was a big square metal thing (they come in different sizes) with big doors and a huge lock. We had the pods storage container for a little over a week. We were able to take our time packing. We would pack a couple boxes after we would get home each evening and could stack them directly in the storage unit. We took our time packing, which was a nice change from previous harried moves. We decided to hire some people to take care of all the heavy stuff and furniture moving for us. The pods storage company gave us a recommendation, so we did not even have to do any of the leg work to find movers. The day before the container was scheduled to be picked up, the movers moved our furniture and heavy boxes for us. A truck moved the storage from our house to the new house within a matter of hours.
Now moving day is always hectic. But if you also have to unpack the same day you packed, it can bring you to tears. The pods storage container can sit in the new location for a few days, allowing you to slowly unpack it. We had the same movers who did the heavy lifting a couple days before come to the new place that day and unload the furniture. We slowly unloaded the rest at our leisure, as we got settled in that week. The pods storage guys brought a truck and took the unit away when we finally emptied it. You can also store your unit via the pods storage company in an air conditioned and heated warehouse, if you are making a long distance move.
It was much less stressful and more cost effective to hire pods storage. We would have probably paid the same amount to rent a moving truck for a weekend, as we did to have that container for the few weeks we had to pack and unpack. Pods storage helped us be more organized, because we could take our time and situate and unpack things more efficiently.
